Discovered at the age of 16 by the owner of "Dijon", Brazil's most important fashion house in 1986, Vanessa de Oliveira became the label's Top Model and was catapulted to celebrity status overnight. In just over a year from her discovery, she was on the cover of every major magazine in the country and the first supermodel ever, during two consecutive months. to have the prestige to grace, back to back covers, of the Brazilian edition of VOGUE magazine.

In the United States, Vanessa was featured on programs like "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous". and in 1989, it was highly publicized that just before her 18th birthday, she was invited by Eileen Ford to live in her home in New York and be a part of her prestigious, Ford Model Agency.  Instead, Vanessa decided to stay in Brazil, renew her contract with "Dijon" and later accepted a role in the Brazilian box office hit comedy movie, "Os Trapalhões na Terra dos Monstros".

Vanessa was named four times the ''Rainha da Bateria'' of Rio's Carnaval, the most prestigious post, graced historically, only by the most beautiful Brazilian women. The Rio de Janeiro daily,

O Globo, also the country's largest in distribution, once named Vanessa the ''muse of summer''. Popular Brazilian singer, Tim Maia, said that if he were to be stranded on a desert island, all he would need to survive, would be the dear company of Vanessa!

After marrying television journalist and producer George Fauci in 1992, Vanessa de Oliveira left "Dijon" and launched her own fashion label, hosted her own talk-show and achieved record sales with her popular exercise-video, "Fitness com Vanessa de Oliveira". 

​

In 1997, Vanessa appeared in the MTV Brazil's award winning, Best Video - "Garota Nacional".

​

A household name, Vanessa was often a regular guest, on most of the popular prime time television game and entertainment programs.

 

In 2004 and 2005 she hosted the national television broadcast of Rio's "Carnaval" for the

Brazilian, Rede Television Network.

​

In 2007, Vanessa was back to promoting and endorsing her licensed products, like the luxurious, "Vanessa de Oliveira Health Club & Spa" , a joint venture with the Caesar Park hotel chain.

​

Now residing in Miami, Vanessa has gone from gracing the covers of print magazines and editorials, maintaining appearances in celebrity events, fashion shows and television talk shows; 

to presenting her television program, Brasileiros in America,

broadcasted in 11 countries.
